The shoe industry is one of the most emblematic of several Colombian sectors and it is not strange that many families have this business, almost as a tradition. This is the case of “Sandals and Colors” (Sandalias y colores in its original Spanish name) a mipyme (micro small and medium enterprises) that entered this area eight years ago, especially offering high quality shoes to their clients. Sandy Gutiérrez is only 21 years old, despite her young age she can say that she has two technical careers and experience in customer service in the telecommunications sector. She currently works at the AMI telecenter- Compartel de Palmar de Varela (municipality of the Atlantic province) where she arrives by bus from the place where she has lived all her life: Polo Nuevo, at about 35 minutes from her work place.

She belongs to a group of women from the municipality of Sopó, located in the province of Cundinamarca, a few hours from the Colombian capital.
